Jay-Z is heading to the Super Bowl halftime stage. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation have announced him as the headliner for Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. For listeners who grew up with his records in the car, at the club or coming through the radio, that is a good reason to turn a few favorites back up.

The timing gives the news a little extra weight: 2026 marks 30 years since Reasonable Doubt. That is a lot of music to fit into one conversation, never mind one halftime show.

Before the guest predictions and opening-song debates take over, spend a little time with the catalog. Jay-Z’s music gives you several ways in: sharp verses, big hooks, laid-back confidence and records that make you move before you have decided whether you are dancing.

For JetSetFM listeners, that mix should feel familiar. Old-school hip-hop sits comfortably beside pop and disco here because a good groove does not need to stay in one lane. A familiar record can bring back a whole night, but it can also sound different when you give the details another listen.

These three selections are a starting point for revisiting Jay-Z, not a prediction of what he will perform in February.

“Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)”

Start with this 1998 favorite. The chorus gets your attention immediately, but stay with the verses and hear how he settles into the beat. There is a conversational quality to the delivery that makes the record easy to return to. You can follow the story or just let the rhythm carry you.

“I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)”

Here is the dance-floor side of the catalog. Put this one next to the first selection and notice the change in feel: more bounce, more space for the hook and a different kind of ease in the vocal. It makes a good reminder to listen beyond the biggest headline and enjoy the records themselves.

“Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys

Then give the big sing-along its turn. Jay-Z’s verses and Alicia Keys’ chorus bring different energies to the same record. Let it play through rather than skipping straight to the part everybody knows. Watch the official music video.

The headliner, date and venue are confirmed. The NFL announcement does not reveal a set list or guest performers, so we will leave the guessing to the group chat. There is plenty in the music to enjoy while February gets closer.

Which Jay-Z record would you want to hear first?

Listen live to JetSetFM for old-school hip-hop, pop, disco and more. Hit play and let us take care of the next selection.
